Season Recap: Girls Soccer
Lady Indians post winning season that nets playoff run
The Lady Indians returned their top scorer and assister in LB Kafsky and Bailey Crumley, along with top defensive player in Sarah Lundy. That trio guided TFS to a winning campaign with a final tally of 8-7, earning a state playoff trip in the proccess.
TFS navigated a tough schedule and emerged as one of the top teams in the region, going 7-3 against conference foes. Two of the fiercest battles took place against Loganville Christian, in which TFS won 3-2 in late March and then in the regular season finale in a 4-3 final on senior night.
Coach Erin Jimenez put up a third consecutive winning season for the program under her leadership, and sixth in a row overall. The girls held a #7 state ranking during the season, and earned their third-ever win over a ranked opponent when taking down Bethlehem Christian on April 14 at home. In that same contest, Crumley set a program record with five assists, and also broke the all-time assists mark on her third assist of the contest.
Kafsky was the go-to option offensively, notching 22 goals and two hat tricks, chipping in with five assists. Marta Beltran added eight goals and six assists, and Crumley had five goals and 10 assists. Jocelyn Hall and Leyre Martinez Herreros both emerged as playmakers as well, with Hall collecting five goals and five assists, and Herreros going for four and eight, respectively.
Lundy and junior Narissa Dawson anchored the defense, and the Lady Indians got a big season also from sophomore goalkeeper Cassidy Coles. Ultimately, the Lady Indians fell in a tight playoff battle against Mount de Sales. Seven starters are set to return next season for the Lady Indians, who continue to be one of the top teams in GIAA Class 4A.
