Season Preview: Girls Basketball
Lady Indians seeking to build off Elite 8 run
The Lady Indians are fresh off an Elite 8 appearance after going 9-16 a year ago in coach Jo Kimbrel's first season as head coach. TFS loses a talented group of seniors, led by Breelyn Wood (Emmanuel University) and Haygen James. Now, the girls will look to rebuild around young up-and-comers and breakout players from a season ago.
LB Kafsky, entering her junior season, had a breakout campaign, especially down the final stretch of the season. All told, she averaged 5.5 points and had 125 rebounds (3rd on the team). She will lead a group that includes Lia Sanjur Santos (7.3 points, 26 steals), and newcomer Klara Dvorakova (junior from Czech Republic). Others with experience that return include freshmen Nora Mitchll and Mia Kerr, along with sophomore Linda White and junior Gracey Eller.
Junior Azul Felder Terrados and sophomores Marta Beltran and Ines Gil round out the roster. The Lady Indians open the season with a scrimmage at Rabun Gap on November 5, with the official season and home opener slated for November 11 against Towns County.
