Singles, Doubles teammates set to meet in semifinals after first round of region tournament
TFS boys singles players advance to semis, two doubles teams also
Playing in Athens on Monday in the first of two days in the GIAA Region Singles/Doubles Tournament, the Indians had several lines compete.
SINGLES
Dylan Johnson (0-2) fell as the 20-seed in his first match. On the opposite side of the bracket, Elijah Pinney (10-4) won 8-2 to advance, then won 6-0, 6-1 to get to the quarterfinals. There he beat teammate Reilly Cox (3-seed) (11-9), who had won 6-1, 6-2 to get to the quarterfinals.
Miguel Smith (10-11), the #2 overall seed, won 6-0, 6-1 then 6-0, 6-1 again to reach the semifinals, where he'll face Pinney on Wednesday.
DOUBLES
In doubles, Christian David & Jackson Davis (10-7), the top seed, won 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-3 to reach the semifinals. Zeek Pruitt & Caleb Kelly (0-1) lost their match, but Glad Puscasu and Cowen Perry (7-3) won both of their matches to advance to the semifinal round.
